Why we started
The law is on your side. It should be easier to use.
Getting an EHCP is far harder than it should be. The law gives councils firm deadlines, but few families are told what those deadlines are, or what to do when they are missed.
We wanted one calm, free place that explains the law in plain English and puts the dates in front of parents.

What we do
Three free tools, built around the law

A deadline checker
Shows every date the council must meet, and tells you straight away if it is late.

Plain-English guides
Every stage, from asking for an assessment to an appeal. Each guide starts with the answer.

Letter templates
Letters you can copy, change and send yourself. The law is quoted for you.
Who checks our guides
Written from the law, checked by people who know SEN
Every guide is checked against the SEND Regulations 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice, and reviewed by someone who works in special educational needs in a primary school in England.
- Every deadline links to the rule it comes from
- Every guide shows the date it was last checked
- Mistakes are corrected within 5 working days

What we are not
We are not lawyers, and our guides are information, not legal advice. When you need advice about your child, we point you to free, independent services like IPSEA and your local SENDIASS.
How we pay for this
The deadline checker, guides and basic templates are free and will stay free. If we add paid tools in future, we will explain here exactly what they cost, what stays free, and any referral fees we receive.
Start with your deadlines
Answer two questions and see every date the council must meet. It takes under a minute.
